Velo Viz is an innovative bike-mounted LED safety system designed to enhance cyclist visibility and rider safety through dynamic visual feedback. Bright LEDs on the frame and spokes make riders more noticeable, especially at intersections where lighting on the spokes boosts side visibility. When activated, the system clearly signals the cyclist's presence to cars.

Using a LiDAR sensor, Velo Viz detects vehicles approaching from behind and adjusts its LED patterns from steady illumination to rapid flashing as cars come closer. This adaptive feedback effectively communicates safe passing distances, significantly reducing collision risks.

Built using an Arduino microcontroller, DotStar LED strips, and a LiDAR sensor, the system processes real-time data to dynamically control lighting patterns. Velo Viz is compact and easy to install on standard bike frames. User testing helped refine the design for intuitive, distraction-free use in real-world conditions.
