The Tome of the Sapphire Dragon
There are three interactive stations in this project. Each station has a wooden plaque with rhymes helping to guide the users along the quest while the first station has an additional rhyme on the inside of the book. The first station includes a podium made of wood and covered in cotton fabric in shades of blue with LED lights on the inside, a book made of EVA foam that has lights on the inside, and a decorative tree made out of a large tube covered in spray foam with wire based branches and decorated with fake ivy, hanging crystals, fake blue flowers, and moss. The second station is a stone made out of carboard and paper mache with smaller stones made of concrete all covered in fake blue flowers and moss. The sword in the stone is made out of molding clay and wrapped in fake ivy. The third and final station has a dragon made out of wood and foam and covered in the same fabric found at the first station. When hit, with a sword or without, an accelerometer senses that the dragon has been hit and triggers the dragon's jaw to hinge as though it's roaring at the attacker and a fanfare of trumpets will sound, notifying the user that they have defeated the dragon.
A three part interactive art installation quest involving rhymes, some lights, a dragon, and fun scenery. It is intended to bring a sense of fun and whimsy to everyday life in which a user can take a few minutes out of their day and escape realism and the stress of everyday life.
