This piece was first conceived during my early Spring '24 residency in the ATLAS black box theater, and the full piece debuted at the 40.4 Sonic Summit in April.
The audio portion was created by building a simulated modular synth in VCV Rack, passed through Ableton Live. The visuals were created with Videosync, including using the Color Mixer plug-in which I developed myself and is used to blend together layers of generative graphics and video in real-time.
In its first iteration during my residency, the piece was projected in a single-channel format onto a rectangular screen. For the 40.4 performance, the visuals were masked into a circular shape and projected from above onto me as I performed on the ground with my laptop and Vestax VCM-600 MIDI controller. The audio was played through the 44 speakers in the black box theater while the audience was free to sit, stand, or lay down in the full space around me.
This is a living project that will continue to expand and evolve, to hopefully be performed in a variety of settings.
