My acrylic tube sculpture translates the fluid dynamics of West Coast Swing dance into physical form, capturing motion-tracked pathways from my competition performances. This singular, intricate piece winds and curves through space, embodying the characteristic elasticity and rhythm of the dance style. The transparent medium allows viewers to observe the continuous flow of movement from multiple perspectives, revealing how energy travels through the body during key sequences. By materializing what is typically ephemeral, the sculpture invites contemplation of time, momentum, and the three-dimensional quality of dance rarely perceived in real-time. The installation transforms choreographic data into an artistic statement about movement's spatial signature.
A visual exploration transforming motion-tracked dance into physical sculptures. This project materializes movement patterns from my own dance videos, offering a new way to perceive choreography in three-dimensional space.
